SODEZTIA — MANAGING HONEYPOTS WITH DEVSECOPS
Singapore Polytechnic (SP)

Final Year Project
Project Completed 2017
ABSTRACT
With the increase of cyber attacks globally, there is a need to find viable alternatives to counter the threats. According to a study conducted by Cybersecurity Ventures, the global annual cybercrime cost will increase from $3 trillion in 2015 to $6 trillion in 2021. Honeypots can be helpful in this area by capturing important data and information about malicious entities. However, the deployment of honeypot is too slow.
The purpose of this project is to explore and apply the principles and practices of DevSecOps onto honeypot to speed up the process of deploying and managing honeypot in order to keep up its pace with the development of cyber threats.
We used 2 principles of DevSecOps — automation and continuous delivery. With the aid of Vagrant which supports continuous delivery and Ansible to automate the process of configuring honeypot, we were able to speed up the deployment process.
