ZMap: Fast Internet-Wide Scanning

28 Aug 2013

ZMap is an open-source network scanner that enables researchers to easily perform Internet-wide network studies. With a single machine and a well provisioned network uplink, ZMap is capable of performing a complete scan of IPv4 address space in less than 45 minutes, approaching the theoretical limit of gigabit Ethernet.

ZMap was developed by a team of computer scientists at the University of Michigan – Zakir Durumeric, Eric Wustrow, and J. Alex Halderman. And it was presented at the 22nd USENIX Security Symposium – ZMAP: Fast Internet-Wide Scanning and its Security Applications.
